I'm in the middle of sorting out my recovery gear kit and came across Go Treads: Go Treads Traction Mat (Set of 2)

I like how they fold up small and are much cheaper than MAXTRAX, but I'm worried about their durability due to their folding design. I do not plan on using them as bridging tools, just to help me get out of sand/playas. Online reviews are favorable, but I haven't found much on these forums. Anyone have first hand experience with these traction mats? Thanks.

I remember for a while maxtrax were $600 on Amazon. I was passing by Slee and grabbed a pair for $150. Talk to your local dealer. It may be much cheaper. I have used mine a ton of times and would certainly buy again. I love the look of amazment when the maxtrax raps its self around a rock to get someone unstuck

I had Go Treads and while I liked the compact design they just didn't work to gain necessary traction ie. in the snow when you are buried pretty deep. I recently bought some ARB Tred Pros and they are awesome! Tested them in the snow this weekend and they gripped really well and didn't burn/bust out any of the knobs. Also like they added feature of "Shovel" aspect on one end. Got me out quick without having to winch out. I was also looking at Maxtrax but too much $$$.

Seems like the ARBs aren't that much cheaper than the MAXTRAX--maybe $25 cheaper? How's the durability of the Go Treads? I think in the $100-$150 range, I'd rather go with Go Treads than the MAXTRAX/ARB competitors. The video above make me think that the cheaper options really don't last much more than a couple of uses.

I bought mine on a sale when they were around $160 on Amazon. Go Treads are durable; but durability wasn't the issue they just couldn't stay rigid enough to gain grip when needed but YMMV. Only time will tell but the tred pros are newer than their previous counterparts and speaking with experience my 6000 lb. cruiser with M/T tires didn't chew up the knobs when using them and they worked unlike the Go Treds that didn't grip at all.

tred pro is probably the best out right now and also have a great warranty, the older tred's had a tendency to crack in the cold.

$160 for the Tred Pros is an amazing deal! I think at current prices, I'll give the Go Treads a chance. Thanks all.

Just ordered a pair of Go Treads today (orange). $119 OTD and free shipping I think is a fantastic deal. Slowly building my EDC (everyday carry) gear.
