If my voltage regulator is bad, how hard would it be for me to use a gm alternator that is internally regulated? Could i just wire in the alt and leave the old voltage regulator wires as dead ends? Would i lose any accesories by doing this? Looking at the wiring diagram, it seems that i would not. Only the fuel cut solenoid shares a wire with the regulator. it is on a 75 fj40. would i just have to hook up the batt wire and be done. Any help would be great.

I am still waitiing for some input on this but i think i have traced the problem to the voltage reg or the wiring between the alt and voltage regulator. I figure i will put a solid state reg in as a replacement and see if that solves the problem.
