GM charcoal canister

So the early GM charcoal cans had like a 1/8 inch orifice so it didn’t overwhelm the PCV or lose much manifold vacuum. Once installed and you get it to purge…..keep an eye out for a lean condition….like pinging….after a good ‘hot foot’ drive, check your plugs.

BMSV is used to block vacuum to the VSV until the engine is warmed up. It screws into the thermostat housing or other available water jacket tap on a 2F. Also, the vacuum to the BMSV and VSV must be from above the butterfly so as to only open the VSV off idle.

To compare, the 60 series 2F is set up like this. Terms are a little different but same function. The VCV is open when engine is up to temp and throttle is off idle. The vapors are sucked into the intake manifold thru ports Z and Y of the VCV when the VCV is actuated by vacuum via the BVSV at port S. Port X is a source of clean air from the air filter for under the diaphragm of the VCV.

The outer vent control valve opens when the key is off to collect any vapors from the float bowl. To use the OVCV you need a canister with 3 top ports and associated check valves built into the top.

Where did you buy it and what model and year did you order it for? I might still install one after the redline kit comes in?
