So I'm getting ready to order my 2.5 and was talking with a local shop earlier. They said to go with the heavy springs in the front and the mediums in the rear. They said that the mediums in the front sag over time and get sloppy. Who agrees/disagrees with that?

I just wanted to be sure before I ordered them.

Also, who has the best prices and is most reputable?

thanks!

Oh yeah, and another thing. I am having a hard time deciding on tires. I'm probably going to run a BFG AT KO. The 35" size seems to be on national backorder (maybe not). Would a 33" (either 285/75 or 295/75) look dumb with a 2.5 lift? It seems you need to run 35's to look right.

I ordered the lift through the guys at ACC here in Atlanta, best LC guys in the South, but instead of heavy in the front and medium in the back I have heavy on the front and rear. The front sits a little lower than the back obviously cause of the extra weight but I'm getting spacers to level it out soon.

I would just get heavy on the front and rear, its the same cost and it wont sag like the medium.

As far as tires I have 295 Hankook MT's. I could have gone a touch bigger but then you get into transmission issues and that becomes $$$$$$$ Here is a pic of my rig

FYI- there is no difference in spring rate from the heavys to the mediums. The heavys are just taller. If you dont plan on having a ton of weight on the springs Id do heavy front medium rear. Its going to sit nice without having to drop more coin on spacers. You dont NEED any lift to run 33's. Ive been running them stock on super saggy springs. But they will still look good IMO with the 2.5" lift. But I would run at least 315's if I were you. There is very little difference in drivability and they look much better under these beasts.

that looks good on 33's. It definitely looks "meaner" on 35's but I am with you on trans issues :)

What trans issues? There are a lot of members with 35s or 37s on stock gears and no trans issues to speak of. The only "issue" is correcting the speedometer/shift points, and that is a fairly easy thing to do.

What trans issues are ya'll talking about? There are no trans issues with running 35 or 37. The 80 transmission has proven to be a very stout piece and reliable with 35-37's for 300k miles.

I ordered my OME kit from trdparts4u.com the other day. They were the cheapest I could find from shopping around. I'll be picking it up from ARB on Monday. Also placed my order for 315 Duratracs today and they're supposed to show up Tuesday. I can't wait.:bounce::D

For price check out 4X4 Connection. About 70 bucks a spring and free shipping.

I have had mediums all the way around, heavies front/medium rear and heavies all the way around. I have no armor or extra weight except dual batteries.

Mediums and heavies give basically the same lift. With heavies you get some weird ABS action if you hit a pot hole and brake at the same time. Other than that I like the ride. The heavies in front and mediums in back give the level stance. The other combination's give stick bug.

Sorry, I guess issues was the wrong word. I meant to say gearing and shift points would need to be changed. The car would run fine but for better mpg and wear on the engine it would make sense to get it adjusted.

X2! I ordered the 850/860 combo for a level stance as many others here have. 35's for sure!

If you wheel with 35" tires and factory bump stops, you will very likely mangle your fender flares.
If you're just driving around town, you're fine.
295/75R16 is a nice compromise that fits under all circumstances.

No transmission issues with 35" tires--except for maybe the final gearing being too high.

I have been wheelin' pretty aggressively lately and I'm on stock bump stops and no issues rubbing my flares, very minor rubbing in wheel well once in a while but nothing to worry about. I am not running L shocks yet, but when I swap, I will extend the bump stops.

So what all do you have to do to recalibrate the speedo and change the shift points? Is changing the shift points as easy as adjusting the shift cable or does it have to be done through the ECU?

Me too with the stock bump stops and 315s--and I've got a 1" body lift. However, a month ago things were aligned just right, and I popped a flare off.
