Well momma finally gave me the okay to buy some fab equipment.. Were ordering the full cage from Metal tech this week and I may actually try and begin the final design and fab of my hard/soft top rack design.

My question is we are looking at a welder and tubing bender, just looking for a recomendation:

Is this a good welder for welding on a M416 trailer and to install the MT cage? (what would my weld/rest time be on this welder)

What is a good tubing bender, it can be a camming manaul or a manual with hydraulic assest. (I'd love to get the bailegh 150, but I can't afford that one)

Spend the extra $180 and get the HH187. It's only a few more dollars and you will be able to do so much more. You'll be spending most of your time at the top end of the machine your talking about- which is going to decrease your duty cycle. I have yet to hit the limits on the 187, but I mainly use 16ga, 1/8" to 3/16" for all my needs.

All that said, if you're new to welding, leave the cage and trailer to someone else. Make a welding cart, table, sliders, front bumpers first, before you try anything that protects your life. But if you have someone very experienced helping you all along the way, then enjoy and have fun.
