after reading this thread:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-...rack-80-series-made-baja-racks-awesome-4.html

i had a little back and forth with Kaleb and decided to get one of the last roof racks he has seen here:

MULE Expedition Roof Rack & Product Detail Photos

he recommended removing the factory rack i have. he's going to send along instructions on how he plugged his holes left when removing the factory rack, but i thought i'd axe here if there's anything to do to ensure that there isn't a leak into the hole. remember i'm very mechanically disinclined. i'm having a store put this and an ARB bumper for me, but when i axed about the hole issue, the response didn't inspire a LOT of confidence that it'd be plugged up nicely and effectively. any help??

Axe? Maybe you mean ask?

Actually there is some info in the faq. Near the bottom of the Maintenance/Trail fix section.

You are getting yourself an incredible roof rack. Kaleb is a great cruiser guy and an awesome designer.

You will be happy with your choice.

Can't wait, I have one on order too. :bounce:I saw the mule roof top mounts the other day on another cruiser, they look super strong and cool.

I used Kaleb's gutter mounts on my rack and I could not be happier. Workmanship, strength and adjustabilty and price...A1 on all accounts.

Nope, Home built...but the build started with "themules" gutter mounts.

yes i'm excited, just sent the deposit. the only thing was plugging the holes. that discussion in the FAQ was all over the place. i kind of thought there'd be a simple thing since removing a rack can't be that isolated. just don't want leaking and the place i was GONNA use didn't confidently answer how they handled such a thing. i was hoping for a "oh yeah we do that all the time, no problem". that kinda scared me

i meant axe, i love hearing people use axe over ask, expecially (another one) since one is a noun and one is a verb

By the way, the Mule rack is an epic rack. I have put hundreds of pounds of stuff on there, slept on it, have stood on it many times, and it still keeps going strong.

I highly recommend it--especially with Kaleb's end-of-summer sale going.

I agree with the above accounts. Kaleb is an A+ guy to work with and sells strong and well built products. I would have snatched up one of those racks I had all my $$ tied up in a RTT.

But I do have a set of his heavy duty Mule rack clamps and they are awesome. By far the best clamps I have seen on the market. Excellent pricing too.

You really can't beat the end of summer price on one of his racks.
