Hi all,

I am swapping a '97 e-locker rear axle assembly into my Land Rover Discovery. I already have a transfer case mounted parking brake drum, making the 80 series rear parking brake setup obsolete.

My FZJ rear axle is missing calipers (thanks boneyard). I would like to run 15" wheels and I know the factory calipers will not clear.

Has anyone ever removed the calipers, rotors, and parking brake assemblies from the rear axle and fitted a simple, smaller rotor/caliper a-la minitruck rear disk conversion?

Please advise.

Thanks!

you might have better luck in the mini-truck forum. some of those guys are running 80 axles and might have ditched the stock brakes.

If it's only an issue because of the 15" wheels, you may try removing some of the material from the calipers first. Depending on the wheel, there may not be much interference.

you can also run a wheel spacer

I've run 15 inch wheels on my 93 this last summer for a trail. I did have to grind a bit off the calipers to make them fit, but they did fine once they were on!
The calipers have alot of material you can grind away without hurting them! :D
