I found an interesting OE "Denso" alternator that looks old school in design and wiring terminals are similar to our early generators. It is internally regulated brushless design, means stock generator regulator can be left on firewall and used as junction box. Also has an "I" indicator terminal for wiring early "idiot lights".

I sent a message to Rudi @bj40green with specs and he kindly took time to do some further valuable research on its design and adaptability to our cruiser wiring and gave a thumbs up green signal and provided following instructions. (Thanks a ton Rudi)

R = Relay = power from ignition key
I = Indicator light = this one is "high" when alternator works. So your indicator light on the dash must be hooked up to +12V. When both are high the light is off. When alternator fails; I is low (ground) and light lits up.
B+ = Battery.

These are "B" type alternators and available in 3 models 130amp (PN - 101211-8060), 105amp (PN - 101211-8050) & 90amp (PN - 101211-8040).

Cheers,
Archie

those are pushing alot of amps it looks like.

I swapped the generator on my 64 fj45lv to a Toyota(forget the year) alt with OEM reg(which bolted to firewall in correct location. Hook up was easy.

Yeah way too many amps for those early trucks would ever need, especially in stock form. This could be an option for the folks missing the generator or doing a resto mod and want to maintain an old school look under the hood.

I read your thread couple of years back on stock alternator conversion (I think found on Pirate). Cool stuff but I guess it will be super rare to find that stuff now.

Anyone actually ever try one of these beasts?
