If you peel off the oem leather and decide you don't like the feel of the rubber you can covet it up.

With leather

Or cloth

I didn't like the grimy leather or rubber..

Or recover it yourself... Its not that difficult.

Another option is to have it recovered by one of the companies that recover steering wheels but that requires removing the handle. Good time to do it is if you're having your steering wheel recovered at the same time. One of the easiest and least expensive options is to buy the cover made by Outsane (see post #4 above).

I could be wrong, but I think you can still buy the oem part. I have purchased both the lhd and rhd (by mistake) versions via partssouq in the last year.

Thank you, I have been wanting to do this to mine for a long time.
Going for it now :p

I do not know if this interests anyone. I have used Fieblings leather dye and Resolene clear acrylic on ours. I use the regular water based black dye, perhaps the "pro" would be better. The first time was 3-4 years ago and I touched it up a month ago. We do have a small hole on the right side of the lever, but it is not a priority right now. It looks fine in th car.

There is a satin version of the Resolene for those that do not like the shine. As is generally the case, the gloss has a higher solids content and is slightly tougher. Coats dry very quickly and I find I use a ton of the dye each time to achieve a even color. It all looks a bit scary when you wipe off the wheel with alcohol.

how is it in person?
It looks great in the box. Sadly I lost track of it and never got to install it. If it fits like shown in the photos it would be identical to the factory.

I've since retired and in the process of cleaning out the mess that I call my garage. I hope to find it and install it.
