If your cv boot is torn it could be slinging grease back on the exhaust of catalytic converter.

Manual trans? Perhaps your vent for the trans is plugged and it is venting through the shifter tower.

If it was a manual open up the trim around the shifters there should be a boot covering the area around both the transmission shifter and trasfer case shifter it is held down by a bracket check for any damage if you see none take it out and underneath it the should be another set of boots on on the shifter stick it should be tight and no rips normally most of the time this boot will be in a bad shape and will cause smell and road noise to enter

There’s typically also a gasket under the shifter’s plate on Toyota manual trans and t-cases that goes bad, allowing gear oil to seep out the top.

Yes the boot is cracked and there’s gear oil on it like 20 /30 ml . Is it too much transmission

@Jackash What model is your cruiser? HZJ105, FZJ105, or HDJ100?

Here are the part numbers for shifter gaskets and boots on an HDJ100:

Gasket at the transfer case shift lever retainer: 36345-60010

Transfer case shift lever boot: 36331-60110

Transmission shift lever boot: 33555-60090
