I’m working on getting working gauges in a 69 FJ40,
is there a way to make the heat, fuel return to 0 with key off?
I have several clusters here and none return to 0.
Also do the older fuel gauge ohm out different than this era?
Thanks!
Butch

Welcome back, been awhile. I will look but not too long ago in this forum there was a thread about Temp gauge not reading proper and someone posted a link on how to zero out or reset, may not be same for fuel. I would pm the rock midget if you all are on speakin terms.

The zero point is set in place by a bent metal tag on the gauge which stops the needle falling too far.
On the earlier gauges which default to full scale deflection when switched off; the only way would be to swap them out for later gauges along with the appropriate sender and voltage regulator if needed.

If its simply a case of the gauge sticking half way; clean the pivot and check the spring is intact. Usually it's just dirty or a bent needle scraping the dial.
