Working on my 85 fj60 when I noticed the galley plug was sticking out about 2mm. I pushed it back with my finger. Is there anything I can use to secure the GP in place so it won't work its way loose anytime soon? I will post a pic soon.

Time to replace it with a threaded plug.

You risk (highly) burning up your motor. Is that incentive enough to fix it right?

x2 on fix it right and fix it now, or pour oil all over the ground and make a paper weight of your engine

Someone on here mentioned making a metal tab that was secured by a head bolt and bent down to cover the plug and keep it from completely popping out as a temporary fix. I don't remember if there was a picture- need to search for it. Definitely not as good as fixing it right, but might hold you over.

You are a lucky man - fix it correctly now. Mine is bone dry and tight, but I'm going to drill it out, tap it, and install a proper plug.

I did mine a few months ago. It too was bone dry, but after reading all the horror stories, I knew it couldn't wait. It took me a few hours because I really didn't want to break the tap. I feel so much better knowing it's better than new now.
