So the Gaia app.

If I buy the premium can I use it for my iPad and my iPhone? Or do I have to Pick one device and use it? I’d like to use my new iPad and I have several others. I don’t understand the phone carrier thing but I have an older iPad as well with it. And would like to have my kids follow along on thier phones and learn maps and help plan routes while I just focus on the driving.

also do I need to buy a separate gps unit? My 200 nav already has a gps locator and my cell phone.

Thanks!

I have Gaia GPS and it works on both my iPhone and my iPad and also my PC. I did, however, have to purchase a GPS receiver for my iPad since it is wifi only. Great app and I recommend it to anyone.

Here is a link to a nice discount:

This is the GPS receiver that I use. I could not get my iPad to read GPS from my phone. It would work at home, but not when off the grid.

You don’t need a separate GPS for your iPhone; not sure about iPads.

I would contact Gaia and ask about using one account on multiple devices. My gut feeling is they will say ‘no’.

I once moved from iOS to Android and had to buy Gaia a second time, as they didn’t allow me to move the license. A few weeks ago I loved from Android back to iOS and was able to continue using my existing (bought on Android) subscription, so it seems some policy changes have taken place. Best to verify with Gaia to avoid unpleasant surprises.

IIRC, making the Gaia purchase directly from them (on their website) rather than as an in-app purchase allows you to use it on iOS and Android on multiple devices. If you purchase your membership through an in-app purchase, I’m pretty sure it will only work on the platform it was purchased on, but also on multiple devices (such as an iPhone and iPad that share the same AppleId). Gaia also gets more money in their pocket if you buy directly from them because the Apple and Android stores each take a percentage of the purchase price when you buy through them.

i purchased it from Gaia and am able to log in and use it on my android and IOS phones/tablets, even Simultaneously. As long as the devices are gps compatible it will work off network with their downloaded maps/areas. Awesome setup for off-roading and camping trips.

I use one Gaia account for iPad, iPhone and laptop (to make maps).

Easy to use.

Highly recommend. Can use across platforms simultaneously. Route planning/map recon on a PC is much easier than tablet or phone. Try the free version for a while before upgrading. It's very capable.

I’m coming in to this with no knowledge. I have an iPad. Looking at this ridiculous Garmin
Overland GPS, but from what I’m finding out is that GAIA is a bit more complicated yet
performance wise is easily just as good and may have better features
We Compare Gaia GPS to OnX Offroad and the Garmin Overlander GPS - 4X Overland Adventures
from one comment abI’ve, the GAIA subscription apparently does cross over into all devices on one
subscription. Please correct me if I’ve gotten it wrong.

I have literally been logged in and using the app on my iPad, iPhone, and PC all at the same time. I have had the pro subscription for two years now. I am 98% confident it still has this functionality with the free version. Just ask Gaia. They are responsive and helpful.
Also, if anyone wants the pro version, I believe there is a discount code in the comments section of this video.
