How many hours a week you work on your truck?
I'm retired so pretty much whenever I want. The real question is how much $$ do you spend on repairs. It'd be tough to keep it going if I had to daily drive to work and had no time to keep up with getting things right. I recently spent a few weeks struggling with an overactive EGR. Following the 2F emissions FSM I tested the EGR modulator and the EGR valve and the EGR vacuum switching valve(VSV). 2 out of 3 were bad. I spent some $ on a mityvac handheld vacuum gauge. Then replaced the VSV and the modulator. Finally...today I have no stupid EGR hesitation. I used this EGR modulator bought new from Toyota. It's from an 80 series thank @OSS for the info.

and I installed this VSV from amazon...https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0814MPNFB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

that was a cheap vsv and worked good after switching the housings and adding new terminal ends:

Oh yeah, today I ground out a section of the rain gutter and put some 3M heavy drip-chek in that section. Hoping to stop a leak during heavy rains. I'll let it dry a bit and then paint it. Maybe spent and hour on it. UPDATE: did stop the water intrusion!

Can't believe it's been almost 2 years since I posted on this thread. I have some mixed feelings today. This week my wife and I bought a new Tundra. But I'm going to have to thin the herd. So I am contemplating selling the Cruiser and my 63 Galaxie. I'm hoping to get a little input from some of you regarding a valuation. Please take a look at the pics and tell me what you would ask if you were selling. OR...if you recently sold or have seen one sold that was or is somewhat similar please let me know.

It's a USA made 1987 FJ60 with about 100k miles on the H55F and 324K on the 2f and the rest of the truck.

The cylinder head was replaced at around 285K with a 100k ish head, new gasket and galley plug fix.

The suspension is OME heavy/heavy and was installed new in 2018, along with the ARB bumper and the Warn winch and new 31" BFG KO2s

It has a yaesu 2meter ham radio and a Unident CB radio.

the oem power steering pump was replaced with a saginaw and the bracket was hacked to acccomodate the sag pump.

The coil igniter was replaced with a gm module.

The transfer case was rebuilt in 2018. along with resurfacing the flywheel and new clutch.

It has Trailer Tailor C channels in the rear frame, aluminum Trailer tailor HVAC surround panel in the dash, 62 door lock actuators and a remote lock system although right now only the driver's door work consistently (will need some lube to the other door linkages)

The oil cooler was recently gone through cleaned and painted and new water hoses to it.

The EGR system was recently gone through and has new stainless EGR pipe from Specter off road, new modulator valve and vsv. The smog pump was deleted and replaced with a pulley (which is way smoother and much less maintenance. The air valves that sit on the drivers inner fender that go to the air pump were removed. The air injectors are plugged and the air rail removed.

@g-man , that underside looks very similar to my '87, greasy, grimy, groady. quick question sir, i see you've eliminated the section of hard line at the front knuckle for the brakeline, can you recall part number or application for said flex line? i'm not far from tackling brakes on my beast. thanks
oh, sell the galaxy, it's a ford :hillbilly:

I think it was a NAPA 38881. I wrung the short metal line off when I took my calipers off to do my 1st knuckle rebuild. The nice thing about the longer hose is that anytime in the future when when doing a knuckle job, you can pull the caliper off without taking off the hose or brake line or having to bleed brakes again. Just hang the caliper up on the shock mount with a wire. BUT...make sure you zip tie the hose together in a loop like mine so they don't rub on anything!

Sold May 14th 2024. Definitely some mixed emotions but moving on. You'll find me on the local pickleball courts!! Here is my new ride and my first bit of work on it...installed power running boards.
