Looking for a steering box out of an 80 Series - going to be sent off to rebuilt so hoping someone has a core out there for a reasonable price. Thanks!

I have a couple. Are you planning on upgrading the sector shaft? Who are you having rebuild it?

The one really clean looking one the splines look like they are starting to twist.

We don't really sell cores (we are always buying them) at Cruiser Outfitters but we generally stock rebuilt 80 Series boxes in standard or with the 105 upgrades ready to go. We can also port a box during rebuild for ram assist.

That's a really clean looking box! I was able to get a core out of a junkyard so am good to go. I'm having it rebuilt by Redhead Steering Gears and am not going to do the upgraded shaft. My 60 is only on 33's and isn't going to be rock crawling or anything so the 80 series box should be good enough upgrade.

Thanks Kurt! I was able to find one and am having it rebuilt right now. Appreciate you reaching out though!

What's the going rate for a rebuildable core 80 box?

Kurt, can you expand on what it means to port the box for power steering?

That was a typo, that should have said "port for ram assist" aka hydra assist. A ram mounted to the axle/steering to provide additional power assist for those running aired down, large tires in technical terrain. It's not for everyone but many love it. I've been running hyrdo assist on a Land Cruiser I own for 23? years now. Absolutely love it.
