Not so much a technical question as a historical one - I am trying to figure out the actual production years of the 1FZ engine variants. I believe the F (carbureted) version was out since back in 1984 In many parts of the world except the US, and the FE worldwide since 1993? Can anyone confirm this?

Carburetor 1fz came out in '93 here in South Africa
That’s what I thought too but there are several places online stating that the 1FZ-F dates back to 1984 - which really surprised me. And there’s almost no information about the carbed version at all. Odd...

I have a 94 FZJ75 with the IFZ-F engine. It's GCC spec. Pretty sure all 70s and 80s with the 1FZ were carburated versions in the middle east. Wikopedia says 93-09 FWIW.

I recall there being three variants, -F carb, -FE fuel injected, and then a higher HP version from like 98 onward of the FE variant. I think that engine went into the 105 models (and maybe others).

I don't think you'll find a 1984 1FZ. Maybe someone misspelled 2F or meant 1994 (which would be closer)?

Here in SA the 1fz engine production only stopped in 2012 or later. Don't remember exact year, but we had them for a long time.

Hello,

The 1FZ engine was in production from 1992 to 2009.

Fuel-injected 1FZ-FE powered 80 Series and 70 Series in select markets before 1999. From 1999 on, it powered the 70 Series in all markets.

Carbureted 1FZ-F was used in General Markets 80 Series and 70 Series before 1999.

The 1FZ engine was developed from the 3F. Additional power, better fuel mileage and new technologies were the drivers.
