Here’s a thread with some info:
FJ62 Fusible link wire gauges
Thank you for the info.
I believe these links are for a FJ60/62 of a later year than my 84 BJ42?
I believe my 84 needs the three highlighted below (Previous post from Rudi). According to codes below part number 90982 has the blue (14) and black (16), but the third link seems pink, could this be a faded red and therefore be an 18 gauge which is what I need?

Can anyone confirm?

Thank you?

0.3 P Purple.......22....................0.85......18
0.5 G Green.......20....................1.25......16
0.85 R Red........18....................2.0........14
1.0 GR Gray.......17....................2.63......13
1.25 B Black......16....................3.0........12
2.0 L Light Blue..14....................5.0........10
3.0...................12....................8.36........8

Pngunme, did you mean to say downsize the fusible wire? Also, I’ve read Coolerman mention in some instances going down 2 gauge sizes is what he does.

Colorblind... can’t see the colors well.

You protect a circuit, by upsizing the fusible link by four sizes.

An 18ga circuit requires 14ga fusible link.

A 14ga circuit requires 10ga fusible link.

Etc.

It is the other way around. The fuse is smaller than the rest of the wire in the circuit.

Y’all are correct... not only colorblind, I also talk backwards.

Sorry!!

I deleted that post and corrected it here:

Do you have the fusible link pigtail in hand?

Or are you building you own?

Or are you wondering if the fusible link pigtail pictured is correct for your 1984 BJ42 before you order it?

Thank you, I have bought the fusible link, I know its designed for a later model in the 90's. I was wondering could I use it in my 84 BJ42?
My current links on the BJ42 are 14, 16 and 18, i believe ? The 14 ga was blue, the 16 was grey and the 18 I think was red although it had been replaced with a standard wire?
I guess my question is, will the new unit I have (90982 - 08264) pictured above do the same job as the existing 14.16 and 18 GA?
Thanks
