Hey,

I'm trying to help a buddy troubleshoot a problem with a buddy's rear axle rebuild.

The hub preload is around 12 lbs. via fish scale without even tightening the lock nut. Is it the seals that are making it too tight? Is there something we are missing? Is there a method to loosen it up? It's the same on both sides.

Thanks in advance!

Agree, depending on the parts/grease, the drag will greatly very. We don't use the fish scale, after settling the bearings, we torque the nut, smaller tires ~25ft/lb, big tire wheeling rigs ~30-35ft/lb. Have found this to be much more repeatable, reliable.
