Hey all,
Anyone ever had this problem? It's from my 83 fj60.

When I remove the filler cap on the gas tank this huge rush of air goes pouring into the tank, makes a loud woshing sound. Is there a breather house on the tank that could be clogged? Is this anything to worry about. I've never had a problem like this with any other vehicle that I have owned. Could I just need to get a gas cap that has a vent in it?
Thanks,
Kelly

It is a closed system. One of the things they check during SMOG is pressurizing the fuel tank. It has to hold pressure.

I'm not saying there is not anything wrong with your system but it is normal after a road trip longer than 30 miles or so.

I thought the air was supposed to blow out of the tank and not suck in when taking off the gas cap on the 60 when the system is functioning properly...?
