Front suspension spacers/levelling kit, do they work with the GX470?

Thanks guys, appreciate the picture ! I Wasnt sure if you had to shorten it where the threads are.

^ Yeah.
Shouldn't have to go that far, just to get the studs lower that the top of the spacer so the spacer seats flush to the mount.

Also, have a few options of Allen wrench, I think a 4mm, it's tight back there, also a low profile 16mm (I think) socket and wrench, there is not a lot of space back there. Also maybe more patience than me and penetrating spray.

Hitting this thread with a defibrillator rather than create a new one...

I'm installing a MetalTech Goblin front bumper after my literal run in with a deer and I'm concerned about the added weight and its effect on my truck's ride height. Suspension is OEM spec/height recently installed, so strong and fresh (Gabriel setup meant for a 2007 V8 4runner), but I imagine the weight will cause a bit of sag up front. I'm contemplating 3/4" strut spacers up front (with bumpstop spacers) to compensate for the weight, and assume 1.5" of lift will be overcompensating but whatever excess there is will serve as a leveling aid. Any thoughts/comments? Again, just wanting to use lift spacers to compensate for a much heavier front bumper - thx!

3/4 would be fine. I run that for a while. My truck got KDSS lean really bad at that time and I add another 1/4" spacer on drivers side to level it. When i replace the suspension, UCA ball joint on that side was really loose. That additional 1/4" bottom out the stock UCA.

I still have my 3/4" spacer and strutmaster coil conversion kit you could have it you want to. You live pretty close to me. They look pretty level when i run it.

That's very generous, but I rely on my rear bags to carry up to 600lb motorcycles on my hitch carrier, the AHC was a major purchasing factor for me. I'm just looking to reverse the droop I'm anticipating from the weight of this front bumper, especially if I get a wild hair and buy a winch for it.

I've had my 3/4 inch spacer on now for almost a year. Glad I do, front would be too low otherwise. One day I hope to get a new front set up that lifts it 2 inches or so without spacers, maybe soon, all front bushings are in need of attention soon, so maybe I'll price it out?? But the 3/4 spacer is fine.
I have 255/75/17 AT tires fwiw

The spacer works to lift the front (leveling) and isn't horrible on components (bushings). It does put a motion of concern RE: uptravel but is okay. With added weight I'm not sure I'd suggest a puck for the lift, that's just extra mass on stock spring rates, while new that's a plus (new), I think the spacer may be a bit of a bandaid. Better would be high rated springs, but you don't want to buy those now since you just got new.
But maybe that's all you need for a while, the bandaid. 🤔
New front struts, well with the added weight I bet they'll sag and probably too softly valved so you'll get nosedive and possibly bottom out easier. How hard do you plan on using the truck?
Do you plan to use full articulation on trails and/or spirited driving off pavement, or more car camping and light trails?

Nah, she's a pavement queen if I'm honest. I want to do some light trails but here in Ohio they've shut down just about everything. I just don't want the truck to appear jacked up in the back like a '72 Nova in the early 80's. I reckon the bumper will cause maybe 3/4" or so of droop, so with a 1.5" lift I'll only actually realize 1/2-3/4" and there's already a built-in lean stock so that little bit of remaining lift will serve to level it out a bit. I've seen numerous pics of this very bumper on trucks with stock suspension so I'm probably losing sleep over nothing.

Right on then. Yeah the spacer would be a good leveling fix for you. 👌👍

I mean, hey, I'm not opposed to swapping in new springs...these were Gabriel quick struts I just installed a few thousand miles ago...but A) what are the specs for stock springs? B) what specs do I need to compensate for a ~200lb bumper? C) who even makes heavier springs in stock length?

I know the pucks aren't ideal, but for someone like me who wants the beefy bumper on stock suspension I think the pucks are the lesser of two evils versus inevitable front end droop...

I think stockers are in the 589ish#/in range. I think several make 600 or 650#/in springs, but yeah they typically afford 2" lift give or take. A bilstein 6112 with some progressive dobinsons could be a good combo, look into the Dobinson's springs.... if you're not wheeling it, a bilstein 5100s may be adequate and that lifts with stock spring (preload the spring for leveling lift, but may still afford nose dive b/c stock rate), but it could be argued they're a little light for a GX, with bumper 🤔

and 5100s are like $90. ..

Gotcha...so the 5100s are like a selectable 0-2" lift with snap-ring slots to select the desired lift? I could dial in a little compensatory lift using the springs that came on the Gabriels...hmmmmmmmm...

I know this is an old thread, but I can't seem to find a 3/4" strut spacer anywhere! Deranged, where did you get yours from? None of the original links work anymore!

Same thing here, having a hard time specifically locating 3/4". Everyone seems to have much larger available and ready to ship.

Quick search...

Mine were labelled,
"Toyota Tacoma 4Runner FJ Cruiser | 1.5" Lift | Front Leveling Kit Aluminum Block" on eBay.

Try here...

Here are some direct links....?

I bought both of those spacers you linked and they each measure ~22mm (0.9").
The silver spacers description stated they measure ~22mm; the black spacers description just says "lift spacer thickness and final lift amount is not a 1:1 ratio due to the suspension geometry."
I assume this is too thick for stock components? Anyone bought one that actually measures 0.75" (~19mm)?

Also FWIW I bought the 1/4" metal washers from Mcmaster Carr (pack of 5) previously mentioned (thank you jstwagn) and with shipping/tax (to TN) the total was ~$17. Pair of UHWM spacers from Wheelers Offroad costs almost the exact same. Not sure if metal vs UHWM material would be preferred for this application, maybe someone else can chime in.

Ugh...
I'm sorry those were too thick. Yes, I'd think > than 0.75" may be too much for stock.componemts if you plan on fully articulating (i.e
using) the suspension.
Again, those i originally found and bought were listed as 'Toyota Tacoma 4Runner FJ Cruiser | 1.5" Lift | Front Leveling Kit Aluminum Block'. But pay attention to model years. I figured listing FJ was appropriate for GX (same chassis and suspension geometry)
For those just listed, I only did some quick phone searching and linked those quick results without digging into specific descriptions, but I'm sure with a little more dedicated searching, the right 0.75" thick spacer will be found. 👍
I think I have dropped pix and info in this thread but the gist is that whatever spacing is done on the strut will afford twice that in lift, thus the 0.75" spacer yields 1.5" lift and 1" spacer yields 2" lift, etc....

Great Post

yeah, basically the spacer will bring the strut down, so the plug Dan mentions and all its related bracketry ((circled in red below) will have no place to go.

I will be installing new shocks is there a procedure for setting up the front actuators?
or will they set themselves to sport or comfort?
I mean do we have to manually have to turn them all the way left or right, or find middle? and do we have to do the dame for the shocks?
