Just provided some information in case someone is interested. I have been running a front receiver for quite a few years and have a receiver winch I have used many times. Usually it’s not for me but someone else in trouble or a downed tree. I have had many rigs with many winches so I understand the concepts of rigid mounting also. I chose to use a receiver mounted winch for many reasons. Cost, weight, keeping the winch stored inside so it stays in good shape, etc. just my choice. One other big reason is that I can slide my winch into someone else’s rig and provide power to it and it won’t stress my rig out. I also have strapped it to a tree and ran cables to it for a better angle or down off the side of a forest service road. So there is lots of reasons to make these choices.
The front receiver on my 470 is a Curt 31367. It does not say it fits the GX but it does. It’s for a FJ or 4Runner and make sure to check that your tow loops on the frame are either bent down or straight. I used the Etrailer site to check dimensions but I ordered it off Amazon.
I have quick connect cables ran to front and rear and my jumper cables have a quick connect on it also. I can use my jumper cable to the winch and to someone else’s battery or from my rig to another battery.
