Hello! Thanks for reading. My new LX470 sat for 7 years, presumably in LA. 94,000 miles, dealer maintenance records until the hight 80s. When I got it the whole undercarriage smelled hot after driving. After 500 miles it's just the front left wheel now. That disk reads about 10 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the right usually. That seems too low for a hung up caliper? I'm not familiar with this style of bearing. Is it likely the grease separated or got contaminated and I am cooking my bearings? Should I be worried? It's the family "minivan" so I don't want it to leave my wife on the side of the road when I'm at work.

Does it smell like clutch that’s slipping? If so, it could be a caliper piston that’s not retracting causing a brake pad to drag.

At first it smelt like stuck brake. Now not so much? Now just a bit hot. I’ve never had a bad clutch.

Jack up each wheel in the front, have the transfercase in neutral, spin the wheel by hand and feel excessive drag. If present, might need to check whats wrong, may be a stuck piston, these 4 piston calipers don't freeze unless the boot is torn and any dirt has get in.

Thank you!
