Now i know I've done this many times BUT for some reason I can't get them out to replace the bulbs on this new to me 2000 lx470, IF I remember correctly I just removed the one Phillips screw on the top tab and pulled kinda popped the whole lens out replace the bulb and re install.... the ones on this lx seem almost glued in... tried both sides I didn't want to use too much force so thought I'd ask here first... what am I missing? thanks in advance for any light on the subject

Once the screw is removed just stick a plastic trim tool or screwdriver on the back of the housing and pry/push forward. Watch your paint.

Yeah I hate that quick forceful popping with removing some of this stuff.

I learned that with my outer tails,

Argh...

I just did this to repair the broken tab where the screw is. The foam seal around the light sticks tight so you have to pry pretty hard --straight--forward. I would not use a metal tool.

Look from back side with a good flash light, DS you must pull battery first to see/get at. Near bottom back of side marker light housing you'll see the tip of a male clip passing through a female square clip retainer on headlight housing. Press on this clip (side marker tip of clip) with flat blade screw driver outward and then forward in one motion. This will release clip which holds bottom of side marker light housing to headlight, top is held by screw.

If you just pray on outside of housing without releasing clip, you risk damaging chip and housing of both lights.

Also be carefully praying on outside even with a plastic tool, you may separate lens from housing breaking seal.

Had to change the corner bulbs tonight. Struggled with getting the lower retainer clips to release the housing. I went a different route and accessed the bulbs via the plastic inner fender covers (not sure the exact name). I just reached my hand up there and found the bulbs. Not easy to see up there in lowlight conditions, but it got the job done.

The first picture is of the PS. The bulb socket is about in the center of the photo.

The second picture is the DS. I had to remove a few of the black clips so I could pull the plastic back. The socket is up behind the wiring near the center of the photo.

Note: I haven't had time to edit and identify key components in the pictures.
