I know the answer must be here somewhere but I'm getting nowhere with the search.

Hoping someone can explain the brief history of the front axle story on the FJ series. Specifically I notice that there are no manual hub lockouts on the FJ43 front, whereas a lot of times the FJ40 (at least US version) hubs have manual lock/unlock knobs.

Thanks

In SA and other places outside the US specs were different.

Most all FJ4X came with drive flanges from the factory like your 43. A lot of the lockouts where installed by the dealer.

The PO put the Warn hubs on my 72 USA FST at around 60,000 on the clock about 1980. I got it from him in 83 with 62,000. There were groves cut in the front axle flats and the new seals I did didn't last very long. I'm going to do speedy sleeves to fix that and the rear main.

Did you try the Marlin eco seals? They are way better than OE.
