what have you guys done to your tubs/front guards on your 40's to fit the bigger tires (without bodylift). i'm considering cutting the rear inner wheelarches and extending them up to where the hardtop meets the tub. dunno what to do with the front. aiming to clear 37's at full flex with no body lift (will be running fj60 diffs)

still no idea what to do with the front...

I've seen front fenders re-done with almost no side bib, so the hood almost rests on the fender...and I know Mace has his rear tub wells to the top of the rail too....

lots of options, just add sawzall....lol

somenthing like ..

step 1 - get angle grinder
step 2 - cut away steel till the tyres will fit
step 3 - drive it

I Cut mine all the way to the wheel well support (1/2" below the wheel well)..
Used FJ60 rear springs with 6" long shackles..
These are 35's im guessing 37's should have no issues rubbing with the proper backspacing/spacers..

For the Front Metal Tech Fenders should do the Trick..

I see no need to modify and extend the rear fenderwells up unless your flexin like crazy.. Pluss it looks stupid when its that hight up

yeah i've already trimmed the standard opening that high, and i scrub 33's (so yeah, i guess i get some decent uptravel) metaltech front fenders are a bit spendy, once you factor in shipping to Australia

To keep it low and not rub I lifted the crap out of my rear fenders..

And dovetailed it.

Personaly, I love what I did. I have looked numerous times and saw the rear body almost kiss a rock but miss because of the dovetail and raised fenders..

front, I just removed the fenders (kept the inners tho)

Might not work in Oz, but no one has hassled me here yet.

First pic is before I raised the rear fenders..

mace thats not street legal is it?! im gonna have to look into the california laws. probably not legal here

heres what ive seen for the front. dont know where it came from. found the pic online somewhere

That is Kowboy at Pismo beach..

Nothing for rear fenders and the glass hood for fenders..

Leagal in Cali, nope.. But there is no reason that you could not skip the dovetail and just elevate the fenders..

There are enough stupiddutys around...

damn i like the look of no front fenders.

Running 38's with 4" BDS springs (flipped)

Front fenders are cut on the same plane as the lower lip (just above the turn signal holes)

Rears have all but been removed.....not sure I 'em that way but it was the all I could do with what I had at the time.

Yes running the Metal Tech fenders basically gives you a 2.5" body lift in the front, plus the front lip is 3" shorter. I haven't flipped my springs yet, but I don't run any bump stops and my 37" Iroks don't come close to rubbing on the fender at full flex.

I ran no fenders for awhile, I liked the look and it gives you a ton of viewing room. One thing that really sucked about no fenders was driving through puddles, mud, etc. It flings crap everywhere, especially dirty water when it isn't raining and you got the wipers going just smearing dirt all over.

removable fenders

I got a set of aqualu's aluminium extra wide fenders and cut them along the line of the side panels and body. I overlapped them then I drilled and welded nuts to the topside of the lip on the side panels and body and remounted them, six bolts each side and I can take em' off and chuck em' in the back.unfortunately one never plans on flopping on ones side and I managed to ding both of em' up .
