Been looking for n FJ40 for a while now... came across this one on the Road from Makawao ans Paia on Maui. No room in my suitcase (crap). Sign says "derelict", some salvagable parts. Not sure how long it will be there, cheers.

And that bib...

I know somebody else who could use the coin and do the work.

The early 60's windshield has some good parts.

What's under the hood?

Is the shackle-reversal kit installed the wrong way? If this still has the original F carb, I’d like to request it from the person going out to snag the bits. Should be easy to remove.

Sorry should have taken more pictures... nothing but a brake master cylinder and a drive line.

My guess there was something interesting under the hood at one time. They raised the center section of the hood and a tall spacer under the bib hinge. Apron seems line up with the cowl. A standard V8 conversion doesn't require that clearance. No hole cut for a intake. Tall diesel? My guess it was stolen and power plant removed then dumped. Or possible something went wrong and owner pulled the engine and wheels and left it there. With the shackle reverse pull the VIN plaque and license plates and they is no easy way to figure out who owns it.

it looks funny just sitting there off the road; you would think the cops would have it towed or something (which could take months based on Hawaii pace of things).

The Hawaii counties are having a shortage of storage places for abandoned vehicles. So they are typically tagged, then picked up when available space at a yard opens up.

Wiper arms, and tailgate hinges. Those will fit in someone’s suitcase.
