hey all,
so my uncle bought this 66 fj 45 about 5 years ago with hopes of fixin it up not really knowing what it could be and now has lost intrest and i have managed to snag it from him... for free!!!

its got a 350, gm 14 bolt rear, dana 44 front, th400, and what looks to be a np203, all out of a 3/4 ton blazer. not very toyota anymore. the body looks to be in pretty good shape actually no spungy rust pockets, dents or major bondo showing. its a us titled left hand drive version.

to the point... im trying to asses what i should do with it. is it worth the effort to make it more origional? like use all the toyota guages and interior parts or should i just get autometer guages and generic switches and accessories? its got some lift to it as well im probably goin to go with a 37" mtr or maby a 35".

this is my first land cruiser and im not too familiar with every part or system like the heater? what should i do with it ? its not installed now and im not sure if its with the truck. is there a good source for tlc parts like this or should i just check junk yards? do many junk yards have any tlc's left?what areas of the body are trouble spots? where is the rust likly to be hideing?

i know thats a lot of questions but answers to those and any other help or guidance would be much appriciated. i cant wait to start!!! ill post up some pics once i get the rig.

thanks!

Mate as for what to do to it is up to you. To save on the time and expense of making it original I'd keep what its got and go from there. Just make it look like a yota!!

pics and location.

as far as the mods go, do what pleases you. it's not original by any means so have fun with tit and build it to do what you need it to do.:)

Welcome, and great first post!

If you like the GM drivilein bits, keep them! If you don't, look for a 1976 or newer FJ40, and put axles, engine and transmission/transfer in from it.

Congrats, and it ain't real til you post pics;)

Also, check out the Toyota Land Cruiser Association. Great magazine, and great network of people like the folks here. You may be able to find some members close to you to lend help and advise...
