Selling my 1971 FJ40. I had purchased it because it's one of the few FJ40s that's essentially all-original, down to the paint. My intention was to fully restore this beauty, but I have since started a family and don't have the free time to devote to it anymore. The truck has been restored to such an extent that you could daily drive it. Fully restore or enjoy the patina, it's in great condition as-is. I have a clean Maryland title in-hand.

Here is a list of repairs that have been taken care of:

2020:
New Parking Brake installed
Replaced clutch
Rear Main Seal replaced
Transfer Case rebuilt
Transmission re-sealed
Transmission Output Shaft replaced

2021:
New OEM starter
Distributor cap and distributor rotor replaced
New battery tray
New OEM re-upholstered seats
New Spark Plugs
New Brake Booster
New Brake Drums

2022:
New Battery/Cables
New LED Headlights
New OEM fuel pump
New Pro Comp 2.5" suspension lift w/ Old Man Emu greaseable anti-inversion shackles
Seatbelts
New OEM Radiator/Hoses
New OEM Thermostat housing and gasket
New Radiator Fan
New Oil Pump
New Fuel Pump
New 33"x 10.5 General Grabber Mud Tires
New Toyota Rims and Hubcaps
New bikini top
New Fuel Filter
New Tie Rod Ends

As you can see, no expense was spared in starting restoration on this truck. I stayed OEM wherever possible, and will be including the stock heater, numerous spare parts and restoration accessories with the sale.

This FJ40 is in great mechanical condition. The only known issues are a very slow leak at the flywheel (1-2 drips per week). It's such a slow leak I just top off the transmission oil with a tiny amount at each oil change.

The carburetor sight glass near the float bowl should be resealed (I am including the kit to do so). Currently, if you let the car sit for more than a couple days without starting it the float bowl will be empty and you will have to pump the gas a couple times to prime it.

There is a moderate amount of body rust on the rear sill, as well as the rocker panels below each door (typical rust locations for these vehicles). If you choose to replace the metal in these areas, there is a local shop in Hagerstown that sells the sill and rocker panels, all of which can be had for under $1000.

The frame is in great shape with only minor surface rust-I was able to get it cleaned down to bare metal with a wire brush. Feel free to reach out with any questions, and check out the additional photos on Craigslist.

Asking $20,000

Nice ride. This one deserves to be preserved, not restored. GLWS.
