Btw - anyone care to share their source for class 10.9 M14 bolts?

(I believe I have seen every post on the topic in this thread - I see lots of posts saying they couldn't find any source for them, and the only post or two that said they found them didn't say where they got them). Does that mean some people are using class 8.8 instead of 10.9? Would that be unadvisable?
Also, does anyone know what class or grade bolts the OEM ones are? They are marked with two bars on the bolt head but that doesn't match any known standard I've seen posted anywhere. The metric classes are labelled by number (8.8, 10.9). The Grades are labeled with bars - 3 bars are Grade 5, and Grade 3 is 2 bars but not side by side (like our toyota bolts) rather opposite each other. So either the two bars on our oem bolts are toyota proprietary or a bastardized version of Grade 3 lol...?)

Update - just got some additional info from the machinist. He is making a few more calls tomorrow on what size of raw materials to order but assuming 20 orders it should still be $60. Looks like he'll need about a month (from time of order) to make all the units (he does this on the side). I will try to work out with him to pick up whatever's ready a couple weeks in.

Before placing the order I'll need the $60 per unit (paypal preferred). Not sure about shipping - would people recommend UPS Ground or a different way to ship?

I plan to talk to him tomorrow again and will update the board, hopefully with finalized info so we can start getting the ball rolling.

Here's what I got so far:
- "mxndrnks" in for 2
- "puerto ric 4x4" in for 1
- "2000UZJ" in for 1 (or two?)

That's just 5. We'll need 15 more to get the ball rolling.

Also, a reminder that at this point it's just the brackets, no hardware (bolts/washers) and no coating/finish. If someone could provide a source for the 10.9 bolts/washers I would consider providing those as well.

I'm in for two. Front and Rear

thanks

Art, what's the thickness of the material being used? I may be interested in one bracket (front)... not sure if I need one for the rear since I already have a recovery hitch.

I won't collect any money until I am ready to place the order and don't plan to place the order until we get at least 20 units accounted for. We're up to 11.

- Mxndrnks = 2
- puerto rico 4x4 = 1
- 2000UZJ = 2
- sonk76 = 2
- SupraTuRD = 1
- LJ_24 = 1
- EdsCruisin = 2

Just got off the phone with the machinist - he's just waiting on me to tell him go. Price and time estimate still stand - $60/ea. for bare metal not including shipping cost and ~4 weeks for all to be complete (with the possibility of picking up the first 10 half way through).

So far we're at 12.

Please let me know by Monday 2/21/2011 if you are interested. When I get the 20 minimum I'll contact each of the interested parties for followup information.

Go ahead and throw me down for one for the front.

We're at 23. I'm ready to start collecting so I can put in the order as soon as possible.
I think USPS Flat Rate shipping is the best option unless anyone has an issue with it. I'll ask $6 shipping whether it's one or two units.

Total is $66 for 1 unit and $126 for 2. I would like to use Paypal. I will pm everyone on my list and request their paypal email address so I can send them a Paypal invoice.

If possible, I'd like to try and get all payments by Monday.

Here are the orders I've got at this point:
- Mxndrnks = 2
- puerto rico 4x4 = 1
- 2000UZJ = 2
- sonk76 = 2
- SupraTuRD = 1
- LJ_24 = 1
- EdsCruisin = 2
- gearguywb = 1
- TheFuzz = 1
- staggrlee = 2
- jgray = 1
- BrokeRob1 = 1
- SmoothLC = 2
- MemCruiser = 2
- pegasis0066 = 1
- 02 Beast = 1
