Nerd dropped off the black Fj25 yesterday aka #6. Its mine now. She is a basket case so I don't feel too bad doing what I'm about to do... Purists, stop here...

The winch is going on my green FJ25.

The plan for #6 is:

re-frame with the better spare frame that I have
lots of body tweaking - boat sides, dovetail :D, maybe narrow the nose
22RE engine
R151F turbo mini truck transmission
4.7 mini truck transfer case
axles will be 85 mini truck axles, sprung over
4 wheel disk brakes
it should be rolling on 36-38" tires minimum
4.11 mini truck diffs
rear will be an e-locker
front will be a v-6 open diff for now
hi steer with hydro assist and IFS steering box if it'll work.
full cage

The idea is to keep the FJ25 body lines with some FJ25 bits and pieces still in tact but with hardcore wheeling in mind. I have most of these parts already so I'm hoping that the project will progress fairly quickly once I start. I will have parts for sale to fund the project but I am keeping some parts for spares for the green 25. PM me with parts requests.

Nice plan!

I wanted to do this! But 25's are rare and pricey! I can't wait to see it completed! It will be a sick rig!

:lol:Chris, that made my day.

I think it wheeled fine, but Fox has to shake that "purist" label............... :p

Doing a little research, this is basically what I'll be shooting for but a little smaller, narrower, and sprung over leafs in the rear instead of the 4 link. I'll skin the door openings to mimic the soft top door openings and the rear tube to mimic the round wheel wells.

I scored front and rear mini truck axles today. WOOT!!

I wasn't planning on going dual t-cases, but I also scored a top shift t case so all I'd have to do is buy the adapter. Hmm...

Slooow build.

Hmmm....the speed of this build leaves me breathless. A 25 moved between CT and RI at the speed limit, 13 posts in a month, and a picture...I am inspired!

In defense of Mike.......................the speed limit is only 65 mph here.

Cool project! This will be kind of like having a pair of "rock skis". I look forward to your build, and some pictures too.
