! I need goggles.

One of the best things I ever stumbled onto are motorcycle goggles, I keep a yellow tinted pair and it brightens everything up...never got anything in my eye while wering them

try my SG-1 Wiley-x's on Sunday they are pretty inexpensive and allow you to chage the lenses for clear or what ever bent of sunglasses lense you want. they will take any perscription even the worst stigmatism (like I have) I have a set of clear lenses for hte shop and some blue mirrored for kite boarding and moutain biking . and since they were designed for the government they are pretty cheap in the the government picked up the R&R they have interchangeable ear peices as well so they can be google witha strap or regular sunglasses.

well, I'm going the inexpensive route and using what is on hand. I'm going to try using used springs. I also have another set on #6 that has add a leafs in it. I'm going to pull those tomorrow and see how they look.

Decisions decisions...

Today I separated the 22RE from the W56 that has been sitting in my yard for two years. I was surprised to find that it had a good Centerforce 2 clutch so I'll be using that.

I put the 22RE on a stand and was fearing the worst. I stripped it down to the long block and luckily it seems to turn over smooth and the only water looks like it was in the pan.

The timing chain tensioner is seized up. I'm going to be rebuilding it with engnbldr.com parts anyway.

minitruck axles are in the shop. The front '84 axle is torn down to a bare housing. The plan is to get them rebuilt in the next week. The front will be getting diff armor, low pinion e-locker, hi steer, vented rotors and IFS calipers, and drive flanges. When I have the cash, I'll go with 30 spline longs, but for now its just gonna have stock birfs and inners. The rear 84 axle is getting a welded V-6 diff, RDB's with ss braided lines, non-ebrake monte calipers, and I'm shaving the housing.

Sounds good! Keep it up!

I forgot that I had an 85 housing so I opted to use it instead of the 84. The 85 has a longer truss on the long side so its stronger.

The housing is cleaned and I hit it with a little paint for show. I welded on the diff armor too.

Its not as much as I wanted to get done today but its better than nothing. I ran out of oxy/acetylene too just before the last bracket was cut and I am also out of grinding wheels. Time to go to HF.

So you're going to outboard using the 25 springs? Just asking, not sure what the latest spring fad is, but I'm not sure I'd want to invest that much time to use a 50 year old spring pack......especially using it hard.

Good call on the 85 housing. ;)

I'm still tossing it up. I threw stuff up for sale. If I can get some funds, I still want to go with some All Pro or Marlin 4" minitruck springs. I still have time to figure it all out.

I scored a rebuilt 22RE head today for FREE from my machine shop buddy! New intake valves, valve job, new guides/seals. I'm psyched. Its been sitting around the shop for a few years in a bag and was never picked up/paid for. Cruiser karma at work.

Cool

Bah, so I got the head home and started looking at it. Its not a 22RE head. I think its a late 22R head, will need to investigate further. It might even be from a Celica, not a mini truck. Its missing the bolt holes for the EFI stuff and it has round exhaust ports, not teardrop ports like the 85+22RE's have.

Oh well, up for sale it will go.

So Mike is the axle with surface rust a 84 while the painted one is a 85? I need to check the one I been stripping disc brakes off of for a few years now:bang:
