That first link pic looks like what I've seen called a Land Cruiser II. Seen at least in the UK a while back. I saw a couple like this in 2 & 4 door versions while visiting Egypt in '02.

Nope...I think the "Land Cruiser II" is a light duty 70 series, like the LJ78:

The white on in the first link is definitely a HD Cruiser, most obvious features being the light pods on the fenders and the leaf springs on the front axle. If it's a diesel, it might be the HZJ77...

If it's a 77, it's a PZJ77 (JDM, 1PZ engine [5 cyl, I think]). It was superceeded by the 1HZ, and sold as a 4-door hardtop (HZJ76) or 2-door FRP top (HZJ74). They came in two models, a LX (rear drums) and ZX (rear discs, nicer interior). Tranny was a 5spd H-series w/ 4.8 first gear, or 4-spd auto. Suspension was a live front axle on coils, rear leaf springs, part-time 4wd w/ manual hubs available (auto were std), optional F/R diff locks for $1500 more.

The PZJ77 was similar to the 1st gen Prado's...front leaf springs (prado had a turbo diesel). The HZJ76/74 were discontinued at the end of last year. Too bad, as a new one w/ 5spd manual and diff locks was under $28K USD. You can add a Toyota turbine and aftermarket intercooler (pretty standard for 1HZ mods) for more power.

In the Jan 04 issue of Landcruiser magazine, there was a guy selling a PZJ77 w/ lift, warn winch, safari snorkel, 100K mi, for $3500...cheap for reliable transportation. There was also a "UZJ44"...yes, an '82 BJ44 w/ 1UZ V8 swapped in, but for $20K. Also, there was a used (like 2 yr old) HZJ76 w/ 5spd manual and all the goodies (lift, winch, diff locks, turbo, etc.) for $28K.

.

The PZ and 1HZ engine were both avaialble in the 77 from 1990 on. The 77 is a domestic market truck.

The PZJ77 is identical to the HZJ77 except for the engine and tranny. The rest of it is the same.

The front springs on both models were leaves.
