Good morning Mudders,

I wanted to upgrade my stereo deck. I had a CD deck the previous owner had installed but it was neon blue, too bright, didn't fit in, and I don't own CDs.

I found this on amazon: Amazon product ASIN B08D2R48HZ
Got it in the other day and got it installed. The amber back-light matches my dash lighting perfectly, and it has radio, bluetooth, aux in, usb, and NO cd deck! Very happy with it. Thought I would share in case anyone is looking to replace theirs with something that looks a little more "period correct" than most of the options out there.

Cheers!

I have the same unit in my 60. It even has an antenna output for an aftermarket power antenna. I really wanted a Blaupunkt SQR 46, but you can't beat the price on the Continental.

Was going to say it reminds me of an old school blaupunkt stereo

Just looked up that unit. That thing is cool! The Continental definitely fits my budget better at the moment haha.

@thrillhaus I've used a few of these radios in other cars and really like them. I'm getting ready to install one in my FJ60. Question for you: do you have any info on the trim ring that you used or was that previously installed?

The stereo came with a trim ring, but the existing one I had in the 60 fit the dash slot much better.

As you can see in the photo there is a small gap on the left side of the stereo, but its hardly noticeable to me.

*I'm not sure if the trim ring I have is stock or not. There was an aftermarket CD player in the dash when I got the rig so I don't know if the trim is from the old CD player or the original stereo.

Hope this helps!

I had it in a Mercedes and it was nice.

I’ve got the clarion m508 currently and it’s way too bright for night use. Clearly it’s a marine radio and intended for a boat.

Old thread but still on topic.

For my ‘86 stock dash 60. I like the Continental that @thrillhaus posted but I would like to also have CD & Sirius. Any recommendations for an old school look…AND… CD + Sirius.

Does this stereo have the option to have the clock display stay on?
So far I found it stays on for 5 seconds or so then switches back to display the audio type I am listening to. I’m the weirdo that likes to glance down at the dash for time instead of looking at a watch.

Thanks for the post, been looking for something this simple for a while.

I have this in my 60 and that’s my only complaint: the clock only displays for a short time then says A2DP or something. I emailed them right when I got it and the response was that it was designed this way because it’s more convenient to know your audio source than the time, said if you need to know the time just press the display button. Annoying.

Thank you for the quick response. Thats too bad. Its silly to have AUX displayed being you should already know it is haha. I guess I will wire in a separate LCD clock once I find a good fit.
So far I have just put in regular Pioneer front speakers. The sound is good for me. I’m not well versed in stereo quality so I can’t tell you if it sounds amazing or not. And it sounds better than the Igloo Kool Tunes cooler I was using for sound.
There is definately no background noise like some cheap bluetooth stereos. And I can change tracks on my old Iphone 10 from the dash.

Next I am going to mold a Kydex face plate so it flows into the dash better.
