After various weeks trying to locate a transportation company to pickup my vehicles today I finally took deliver off a new cruiser that I’ve been after for a while.

The original owner was a fossil hunter and used it as his rig to get around town and on his expeditions. The seller was selling two cruisers and although I was only interested in this one I bought them both and will be selling the other.

The cruiser I’m keeping is what would be considered a poverty pack model. It came from the manufacturer without the following

No roof rack

No sunroof

No third row seat

No fender flares

No running boards

No siding back glass

No holes in the rear carpet for third row seats

Full rear bench seat (no 50/50 split)

Clear glass

Cloth seats

I will go through it in the next couple days after I give it a good wash and cleaning and share what other interesting things I find about the rig.

Drum rear brake?
Where is the picture of the other cruiser:)

Yes, I noticed the rear tire had a slow leak so I swapped it out with another and saw the drum brake. Is this common?

The other cruisers is a early 91 model thats not running because of head gasket. It started to get worked on but due to covid it never got finished. So I’ll probably sell it as a mechanic special or part it out. Has clean title and nice body and interior.

Well how about that, we now have photographic proof that unicorns do exist.

Great looking cruisers! Congratulations! Jealous!

Norcal510, Before you sell that other truck, I'd pull those 16 inch factory rims off of it, and swap them for the 15 inch rims you have on the truck you're planing on keeping. The reason for that, you'll have way more tire size options with a 16 inch rim, then with a 15 inch rim. Plus, if you decide to upgrade to bigger brakes later on, the 16 inch rims will accommodate bigger calipers and rotors, the 15 inch rims won't. If you do swap out the rims, don't forget to grab the 16 inch spare tire too.

Cool rig! I have only seen a few equipped this way!

I am not sure of your plans, but could be the ultimate 80 with a nice frame (w/lockers) from a 93/94 locked with the 1FZE engine underneath!

Good idea.

Thank you.

I missed the opportunity to buy a locked rig that was local for $2500. Had been hit n the front but was good for parts.

I might try and build something simple like this one at the land cruiser museum in Utah.

That's no poverty pack.
That's the Practical Pack.
Great score! 👍

Total score. So what year and what motor is it, and does it have lockers? Very interesting find and back story as a rock hound vehicle. Good job buying both, too.

I love that it had no flares from the factory. That is extra cool, I missed that at first. You have a rare bird there, with no moonroof, flares or third row. I also like the light color and the two tone paint. It looks pretty clean and straight. I think you came out really good on that. Well played, sir.
