PS I have pics of Land Cruisers from Oman. Where do they go?

On this trip I've seen an FZ motor that is carburated, a 14B motor, and an FZJ-75 outfitted with a machine gun (couldn't get pics of that one:grinpimp: ), and so many 79 series pickups my head is spinning ( all gassers).
stick them up here and let the moderators move them if need be...
since they are 75 series that makes it an international unit, so i think they would be allowed here...

actually, IMO, post the pics here....and once they "drift" down thru the forum to the bottom, or early on p2, the mods can then move them to the Events or other category, leaving a redirect....

otherwise, some of us might never see 'em ;)

yup here, When they interest fades on it, To Chat it will go. Now that I got my nice new powers. :)

Highly interesting stuff like that we will enjoy for a week or so. Then it can be doomed to the chat room. But I will leave a redirect in this forum.

When I lived in Abu Dhabi, the 80 series was the vehicle of choice for the locals (when they weren't driving big Merc 600s, they used to drive the big LCs like complete mental cases and loved taking them off into the sand. Down near the OMan border there was some great wheeling without the seriousness of some of the Wadi runs in Oman which could flodd with only minutes notice and kill quite a few unsuspecting wheelers. I used to drive a 4 litre Petrold cherokee at the time which ws great on the sand cos of the power and lack of weight. The Petrol Lcs were also great but a lot heavier - mind you most of the organised desert runs were in Petrol LC 80s. Love to see some pictures myself, bring back some great memories. Oman is a Wheelers paradise if you watch out for the weather in the mountains and stay away if there is any rain forecast at all.

It's always bothered me that just because the americans never got diesels, 70, 90's, etc., why is our forum not called the 7X/9X forum, or the Diesel forum? Why must this forum be singled out as being distinclty not american, while every other forum is specific to a particular model which was sold in the great and mighty USA?

I call upon the moderators to change this forum name. I do not want it changed to the 7/9/12/B/H forum. That's just Silly pandering. I say we embrace the silliness, and I demand that we call it the "Forum on Unamerican acTECHvities".

Who's with me. Rise up people, rise up and be heard! We don't' want to be International anymore. Nay! We want to be be Unamerican!

The Unamerican Peter Straub

Pete, baby, we have like 300,000,000 people down here. You have like 28,000,000 people up here. You are (with all due respect) a fly on our fly paper. (Ha ha ha ha ha) I think the current forum name fits. To make my point I give you the thread post (Exotic Cruiser's) all kinds of down under stuff featured IN the Int'l forum area!!!!

SO TB I guess that makes you a fly on the paper, EH?

well...
that might not be totally true...
total sales in Oz to 1998-2000 was 86,300 units
total sales in USA to 1998-2000 was 91,170
total sales in europe was 100,200
and in Japan the total was 137,500...
sorry buddy.

so 2013 is gonna be a good importing year!

You still might not be right, LOL, count all the old ones still on the road. Not many in Japan, and Europe still is not a country. LOL.

LOL,
it would be interesting to see how many cruisers still on the road in Japan and in Oz...
the sheer selling numbers might be the saving grace...
cheers (and yes I am still jealous of all the cool cruisers in Oz)

Besides the statistics (thanks Wayne!), I am, as a U.S. citizen, very uncomfortable with this position. By the same logic, we Californians should just annex Orygon and Wash., because after all you are just flies on our paper.

Don't make a measurement about how much Land Cruiser sold have one or other country .. the real and valid measurement is the level of Cruiser Lovers in each contry ..

With me Panamá is in the map .. :grinpimp:

So is our current name "International Cruisers.... Diesel Tech and 24 volt systems" permanent or a transition name?

B

transition....still thinkin on a permanent one.....and still tracking down 7x threads to move too.....

Well, I have to say the 70/75 section was a fantastic idea, I really didn't realize how much 70 series material we had, so kudos to whoever thought that up.

Watch out there is a '78 BJ40' thread over there that I think should be over here...

This is pretty trivial, but to maintain the 'flow' in the tech section listing, how about moving Int'l/Diesel up above the FJ Cruiser board. Makes sense in terms of production history etc.

Nice Work!

Im predicting a dedicated 70/75 forum will grow expotentially(sp) in the future.
