I purchased this completely restored 1978 Toyota FJ40 in August, 2012 from Rocky Mountain Cruisers. To see the visual restoration process: 1. go to facebook.com/ROCKYMOUNTAINCRUISERSLANDCRUISER; 2. Scroll past 2010 timeline until you find John R 1978 FJ40 Platinum Restoration; 3. see restoration pictures.. The FJ had approximately 300 miles when I picked it up and it now has 1,200 of local, Texas miles. I have been the only owner and only driver of this vehicle, and the FJ has been garage stored since purchase and has no damage, dings, dents, or mechanical problems. The only modification I've made to the FJ is to add a dual engine cooling fan from a single fan to handle the Texas summer heat. I have not taken the top or doors off yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Here are additional details on the FJ from RMC when I purchased it: 1978 FJ40 Retro-Mod. Brand new Chevy Ram Jet crate motor, performance built 4L60 Transmission, rebuilt T-Case, Rebuilt Front and Rear Differentials, Power Steering, A/C, Navigation, Satellite Radio, Custom Gauge Cluster with Stuart Warner gauges, Tilt Steering, Custom Lokar Shifter, Lokar pedals, Lokar E-brake Handle, 4 Wheel Disk Brakes, Sound Insulation, Custom Carpet, 6 Point Metal Tech/RMC Roll Cage, Corbeau Front Seats, Custom Rear Jump Seats to match front Corbeaus, Tinted Windows, Custom Patriot Blue Pearl Paint, OME 2.5; Lift, OME Shocks and Steering Stabilizer, All New Steering Components, Stripped and Epoxy Coated Frame, Custom Bumper, High output Lighting and more and more and more. With just over 1,400 miles and garage stored, it's pretty darn close to completely new.

Why am I selling it? A few reasons. First, I don't drive it all that often, and this car should be showcased by somebody who absolutely will get the most out of the truck. Second, I need the space in my garage. Lastly, I have a son who will be driving soon and will not be driving the FJ...though could use the cash to buy him a dependable used truck of his own.

Happy to answer any additional questions you might have!

Greg

Sorry, first time poster...the location is Austin, TX (transported here via enclosed truck from Denver). I paid $65k for the truck and it was listed for $86k. Though I'd like to get close to the $65k price, I'm happy to entertain serious offers. Thanks and let me know if you have additional questions.

Beauty... GLWS

Thanks, appreciate it. If you still own the truck in your thumbnail, it's a beaut as well. Love the color.

I think you'll find that you're not going to get that kind of money for it on this forum. There are way more builders than people with a lot of cash. You paid a serious premium for it. You might consider looking for a Barrett Jackson or RM Auction and try to recoup some of your investment there.

GLWS.

Agreed. Specialized audience looking for a rig like this with cash in thier pockets.

Thanks for the feedback, and will look at those avenues for sale. Quick question...knowing what you know about FJ's and the market, and that I paid a premium for the vehicle, what would you list it at?...what price do you think is reasonable to expect someone to pay for this vehicle?

Hi I am interested in making a serious offer on your fj
How can I contact you?

If you don't find the buyer you are looking for, give me a shout. I have sold dozens of high end Cruisers on consignment at www.lcnation.com. I recently sold a beautiful 79 FJ40 with Vortec engine that was built by BTB Products in Henderson NV. A similar restomod. The truck had $84K in receipts for the work.
