I took the dial off my Warn lockout and measured the in and out play with the C clip installed on the birf and came up with about .063".
The Birf has a fixed length between the base of the stub shaft at the bell to the snap ring groove. The spindle, the hub and lockout needs to fit within those parameters. In your case you need to figure out how to alter/shorten the combined length of those components so the snap ring can be installed if you use those lockouts. As i mentioned previously, folks have eliminated the gasket and glued the lockout to the hub or tried a thinner gasket.. A more aggressive idea is maybe thin the mounting flange of the lockout, or take material off the brass bushing on the backside of spindle. Or find a pair of original long body Aisin or Warn lockouts. I believe Aisin 's were only offered on FJ55'S, so they're bit rare.
