No kidding on the good work man, this has drummed up more responses than most new threads!! :grinpimp:

There is also a driving light switch from the FJ with an indicator light that comes on when in use. Unlike the Taco light switch which is just lit all the time...

What's a "Power Heater?" lol

The one above only lights up when you press it in.

?? I have that same one an its lit up all the time with the dash lights... when I hit it the switch doesn't change at all with lighting - it just fires off my Hellas.. Sounds like I have it wired wrong... ?

WHat is power heater and was the rear fog standard? I would like to have one of those for bad weather.

Power Heater - is a viscous friction heater for heating up the diesel engine (coolant) faster when cold.
Look here: Other Products | Compressors - TOYOTA INDUSTRIES CORPORATION
The diesel engine is very efficient when idlling, so that on a cold day, the engine will not maintain operating temperature. Pressing the PH button will engage the magnetic clutch for the 1.6 kw heater, and increase the idle rpm from 600-650 to about 1100.

The Power Heater is standard on euro HDJ-100 (Previous models had an Idle-up switch) and the rear fog is standard on all euro models afaik. The tail lamps are wired so that only the outer two lamps are on normally, with a 5/21 watt wedge bulb, the 21 W portion beeing stop light. The fog light is in the lower liftgate (or whateveritscalled), which is the only function of that part of the lamps.

edit: BTW: The front fog switch is on the headlight control switch arm, on a separate ring which turns one step. Don't know if that's the same in other markets.

4Runner DAC (downhill ascent control)
L and R rear windows
400W Power Invertor
Rear Diff Lock for Tacos/FJ Cruisers

are the ones I can think of right off hand, I think there are a few more.

What's the inverter switch like? How does it look and work?

Also looking for a switch for the HID driving lights (Hella pencil beams).

You can do it either way and it will work fine. You can wire it so you can see it with the dash lights or when the lights or other accessory is on. Your way or Corey's way is both correct. Unfortunately the light switches don't offer a dual light filament so one that comes on with the dash lights and then lights up again when the lights are on.

Finally found that thread I was looking for:
:D Hate to give the Fj Cruiser guys too much credit, but these switches rock - I'll be ordering some if CDan can get them.

notice the sloped faux "roof line" on the one driving lamp indicating it might be used for roof lamps - Also, compared to the Tacoma switch which shows slanted "fog beams" towards the ground - these show straight "driving lamp" lines - they also both seem to illuminate with other dash switches as well as have an indictor lamp when switched on

Original thread:
Off-Road(Roof top)light switch OEM part number - Toyota FJ Cruiser Forum

PS = not sure if those are the actual part #'s for the pictured switches... the original thread has some wiring info and more partn # info.

If you go to toyodiy.com, go to parts database, and look up a Cruiser from a different country, "Japan", "Europe", or "Other", then click on the "Electrical" tab, then "Switches" it will give you several pages of switches for Cruisers that we don't have here in the States.

There's a lot of cool stuff on that site to look at that we didn't get here!

Derek, here's your part# 84162A-60050 SWITCH, REAR FOG LAMP

That's a cool site, thanks man!

I know this post is a few years old. I have been waiting to do this. Has anybody bought these parts lately? My dealer wanted $140 for the same $55 from 07? I may go with the driving lights, has anybody confirmed if the part number from the pic?

Does that just pop right into one of our blanks? What did you do for a pigtail coming off of it? It looks great! I might have to pick up one!

I have not installed it yet. But from the research I did, it should pop right in. At most, it may require minor modifications as shown in the first post. But, I am pretty sure it just pops in.

I also ordered the switch harness for it. Part numbers are:

  1. SWITCH AUX LMP TOY FJ SERV PA - #PT29735070AS
  2. WIRE HRNS SWITCH TOY FJ AUX S - #PT29735070SH
Hope this helps!

Been thinking of just using the fog light switch for my offroad lights....just need to find the indicator and replace bulb as I cant tell if they are one unless I do a visual check with light while driving...haha

That indicator and the D indicator are both out....pretty common though I think.

mine is a turn ring on light stalk...not one on dash, punk! LOL If you can read that in dark while driving without crashing you are indeed more than a mere mortal man.:flipoff2::steer::hillbilly:

Then again you got lots of expendable income and travel the country wheeling while saying it is for work...but nobody ever sees you work. LMAO

I KNOW it is. I've had my 2000 a few years. ;) So, if you rotate it up, or forward, or CCW if you're looking at the stalk from outside the vehicle....they're on...as long as the headlights are on.

The LXs have indicators for headlights being on, but nothing for the fog lights. At least on the 2000 and 2005 models. They just assume you to know that rotating the switch turns them, WAIT FOR IT.......ON! :flipoff2:

kind of like a Weather Rock! wet means it is raining.

That works good for Lexus but I fear when I put my IPF or Lightforce lights on new bumper and leave covers on that I am going to forget and flip the ring one night....I guess at that moment the smoke rising from bumper will be my clue as the plastic ignites. :D :D
