I have a March 2000 (build date) LC and like others have no power to the fog lamps. First let me say that there is no rust or dirt around the bulb connections and that I have checked the fuses and bulbs with no issues noted. Second, I am aware that the fogs will only work with the low beams on and I understand how to activate the switch at the turn signal flipper by twisting. I do not own the tool that checks for continuity or power so that is not an optional piece of this dilemma so please try to help me solve this without access to one (if possible).

Now for nit n gritty..

After reading several threads from the search function I determined that the relay for the fog lamps was located on the back side of the driver side fuse junction box. This gets interesting because the kick panel was extremely difficult to gain access to (you have to unplug about a dozen wire harness connectors and remove 2 nuts from posts and then wiggle over and over to gain access to the rear) but I DID manage to pull the top 2 relays that I believe are for the "FR fog relay" and "RR HTR Relay" based on a diagram that a user on MUD posted. If you've seen these relays before, one has 3 prongs at the bottom and is red in color(Toyota part # 90987-04004) and one has 2 prongs at the bottom and black in color (toyota part # 90987-02012). I desperately need a diagram showing the backside of this fuse panel for my 2000 LC to ensure that I have pulled the correct relay.

One more piece to this puzzle (one of several potential issues), I found a wire diagram that showed 2 ground wires for the fog lamps located on the "fender apron". I have not verified that these are intact/grounded but need help determining the exact location and will promptly do so as this appears to as important as any other piece.

The only other piece of info that may be of importance is that the previous owner has no idea if the fog lamps ever worked and did not know how to turn them on but he did mention that he complained to his dealer about a buzzing sound coming from under the dash and the dealer replaced something electrical.

Thanks to anybody that can shed some lite on my issue as right now I have no transportation other than riding with the wife.

Check the Production Lot Number of the pcb according to the attached tsb. Should have been changed on your 2000.

Don't know if this diagram matches your reality...

I will check that first thing when I get home. Thankyou sir.

Looks very very very similar. If that is mine, I have pulled L and H (have them in hand as we speak) and am going to try to find a replacement for the Fog Light Relay tonight.

Only one thing though, if this diagram is in fact my junction box, the relay for the fog lights is red and has 3 prongs on the bottom and is Denso Yota part #90987-04004. I wish i could get confirmation from someone that this part number is in fact for the fog lamp relay as this would better solidify that this diagram is an exact of mine.

Im still in a bind without my LC! Please review and weigh in on this today if possible. Thanks

Get a voltmeter and confirm the 9005 sockets are getting 12V. If they are getting power, and you are still having issues you may want to consider bypassing the OEM relay and installing an aftermarket relay harness. A clean instal and routing your wires will provide OEM like look, and operation.

I've considered that route but am so far into this that I am not going to let this beat me and plus its an opportunity to learn something so Im still commited to finding the problem...... but I still need someone to confirm the toyota part number for my (2000 LC) fog lamp relay.

1
Get the fsm w diagrams
2
use toyoDIY
3
get out the volt-/ohm meter

Simple relays like that are normally used in several places for different functions. You might be able to swap two of them.

How is it going?
Stumbled upon some more info in the BE (Body Electric) manual, which is generic for the 100, and not that model/year specific. It's a bit confusing with conflicting info.
Se in particular BE-25, showing a relay under the fuses in the engine compartment.

Uhu I have mistaken; I responded that I pulled relay L and H but in fact I pulled I and M (this is from your diagram at post #3). H and L are missing from my junction box and I need to know what part number relay to install in those spots and maybe this will solve the problem! Anybody have an answer to this?:)

Did u read the text on page BE-25 in my last post?

Yes I did but I believe that pic refers to the engine room relay specifically. kinda strange but i have opened the engine room relay box several times and there is a diagram on top of the cover that shows the relays included but there is not one for the fog lamps on mine?

I really think i have made progress as there are no relays on in the H and L spot and i feel like if i can get the part number i can get one in there are nail this down.

I think what it says on page be-25 is that the fog relay is an integrated relay in the harness relay block situated under the fuses in the engine room. I guess the health of the relay can be found out by measuring input and output.

If Mr T has designed it that way, it probably means that the relay is unlikely to fail. Might even be a solid state version.

The relay behind the left kick panel is probably for rear fog, just slightly "under-marked" in the illustration.

I find that the wiring diagrams are not 100 % accurate. Not a single of the circuits I have traced on the 100 has been according to the book. There is always something slightly different. Cable colors seem to be correct tho'.

I still have no part number for the relays. Guess I'm gonna guess and see what happens. I really hoped for assistance and hate guessing on within as simple as a relay part.

If the info on page BE-25 is correct, which I believe it is, there is no part # for the front fog relay alone. It says clearly that it is a part of the harness, and has to be changed as a the whole junction block wire harness.

In post #3, the image is exactly like the one on my LC and mine is missing the "front fog relay". This is the part number I'm looking for. If that don't work, well implement plan b.

Update 4/8/2012

Fog lights are workin on both sides!!:steer:

Installed the missing relay on the back side of the junction box and I can tell you it's the one with two prongs at the bottom not 3. Scratched my left hand all to heck but im fog light equipped and I'm ready for turkey season.

That's good. Thanks for the update.

This means: Another inconsistency in the EWDs.
