A proper soft top needs a set of bows independent of the cage
My thoughts exactly...Garth said:Only my opinion, of course, but a good roll cage does not (and should not) reach the appropriate height to accomadate a proper soft top.
If you look at a soft top on a 40 (or a Jeep or old Bronco) the bow systems creat a natural roof line that sits above any roll bars/cages, like a hard top would.

In the link to Dan's build, you can see that his soft top sits well-below where the natural roof line for an 80 would be. Tapage's build, on the other hand, looks like one might expect when envisioning a soft top 60-Series.
A soft top using the roll cage as it's support will absolutely work...it just doesn't look "correct", in my opinion.

Bing, nailed it!
Nice work! And family time trumps all!
You got a tear drop trailer! I love those!

Running out of time for family trips like these, the kids are growing up quickly. 1 more year and the daughter is off to college. This trip was epic and a memorable family experience.

I forget how young/old I am...depends on the crowd I guess. Family trips were always the best and most frustrating for me as a kid/young adult but they're that good stuff that life's made of.
Looks way good!! Awesome build!
Where did you get the Al's liner? I like the texture look of it.
