put that bad boy on a dolly behind a Uhaul (Ok, Ok, a Penske) and tow that sucker to ABQ. Buy on arrival a rust free SW rig for cheap and spend the same money on PM....and transfer the mods over quicker than you can pry bar the driver's door and gate...

again, only if you can swing it, but cross country with the potential to run into big problems doesn't sound too much like fun.

Sage advice.

Sorry man...I know you're heartbroken.:frown:

Glad to hear you're ok. Could've been a lot worse.

Glad to see you made the decision to head west. Sucks that you won't be around for CMCC but maybe you'll find someone who can't make it to Moab in May and take their slot. Enjoy your mini holiday back home to visit family, it'll be a nice break from reality.

.25" is WAAAAYY too thick, .040" should be adequate. If that doesn't give you a warm fuzzy go for .060".

To offset some of your expenses in the fix sell off the serviceable sunroof parts (motor assy and such).

It was funny Kris--after I talked with you, my mother called and I told her I turned it down and she immediately told me to accept the new position and make the move.

She said "Ohio has been unlucky for you." I agreed and immediately made the decision.

Good call on selling off the sunroof parts....

health is everything.....material things mean s*** without it....glad you are ok...things happen for a reason maybe your rainbow is waiting for you out west...good luck and godspeed...

Beno, just saw this thread. (1) Glad you and dog are okay--I'd easliy sacrifice a vehicle if it meant avoiding injury. (2) It's just metal--life can't always work out the way we want it to, sometimes you have to accept changes that are beyond your control. (3) If the task of getting it road ready is too daunting, then it does sound like a good idea to dolly it to your new place (provided you new place has work space) and either repair it there or find a rust free 80 with blown motor and transfer all the stuff over. If that is too daunting, just take all the useful stuff off and put THAT in the moving truck and drive it down.

A local club member flipped his shiny 80 truck a couple summers ago, wound up replacing the entire roof. You can barely tell. Maybe, since you're moving to ABQ, you can make a removable top? :D

Good luck.

Oh, yeah. Real men flip on the trail. :flipoff2:

1 month to get ready go across the country  you ought to think about a uhaul and trailer onur.

NOOOOOOOOOOO

Not Uhaul, please not uhaul.

I had a similarly dinged up rig and made the mistake of attaching it to something that had uhaul written on it.....

No, I agree. No UHaul or towing....

I am cleansing my life right now. I am basically going to get rid of everything I own except for the truck, tools, clothes, books and computer. Books and clothes will be shipped cargo on DL to ABQ. Tools, dog, me, and my personal effects will be in cruiser for the trip.

Everything else is being given away to goodwill--my furniture, bed, everything.

I have one month to get my truck ready and I am going to do it damnit......

Thanks for the suggestions guys.....

yo beno!

I just found the thread as well.

it goes without saying that this royally sucks, but I will emphatically echo what others have said already -- I'm glad you and the pup are okay.

'tis just a flesh wound...buff her out and get her rollin' again. :D

glad you and the pooch are okay.

PM me your paypal number, I'd love to donate a twenty spot for gas on your trip and maybe you can buy a big mug of coffee for the long drive.

Let me know if you need some new tunes to listen to, I've got all the Dick's Picks on MP3 and have tons of shows on CD's.

I'm feeling a full convertible with a flip down front window in your future 80 builds.

Glad you and the pooch are okay!! Great luck out west.....

Where were you? 77 or 480 or??? Can't read the signs in the backround.

I can't believe the truck withstood the roll so well. Yet another testimony to the build quality.

Too bad your leaving OH (for me) I was betting you were the one to get a great club off the ground here in NE Ohio.

5000

Hope your doing ok:confused:......to bad you could not make the trip up to Canada:frown: . Good luck with your relocation
