Our game room is a typical bonus room construction above a 3 car garage. The ceilings are 10' with clipped corners resulting in 9' walls. As a result you can walk behind all the walls which gave me an idea.
I'm sure it's not unique but I had a cabinet shop build a recessed box for the TV which is about 6" deep. While we were at it we added a full width shelf, 18" deep, and four 18" deep drawers. I put a header above and below the studs (even though they are non-bearing) and proceeded to cut them out. I didn't think to take any photos of the hole.
It's great that it doesn't take up any interior room. Again, I'm sure others have done similar but there seems to be so much interest in flatscreens in the forum right now I thought others might get some ideas from our cabinet.
