Brother, I hope my eyes are playing tricks on me.......or that you are missing the oil pressure needle. :hillbilly:

Your eyes aren't playing tricks on you...the needle is there, however, it's unhooked and the limiter is broke off. I have another one hooked up.

Been cold & wet here so not driving the 40. Pulled the floor mat (SOR) to clean up the floor pans. One side is perfect while the drivers side has 2 small holes (dime size)-do I just weld them up, POR15, then spray 309 red to match? The PO had sound deadening material under the floor mat, how much louder will it be without?

To do list is growing and I added to it today.

1) paint new OEM wheels and mount
2) replace cooling systems
3) spot treat drivers side floor
4) mount Warn 8274

Found on CL...the guy was asking $700 for a complete '79 winch that looked to be in "fair" condition. When I asked him if he'd take $300 he replied that he has another 8274 he would let go for $450. He threw in a new cable, solenoid and controller. Either need to buy a plate or fab something up.
I didn't need and will probably hardly use, but something about having piece of mind and Nostalgic look.

Yup a 8274 just looks so right on the front!

@ginmtb did you go the Albright route under the hood? (Never mind page 44 of your build) Sweet rig btw.
He gave me a solenoid pack with one new Ford starter. Prestolite motor appears to be original, crossing my fingers that it works.

Doesn't really matter at all, but Downey air cleaner was designed to route out over the valve cover, not point forward towards the front of the rig. This air cleaner was designed to clear the brake master cylinder

There's only one fuel filter required between the gas tank and fuel pump. The location of your second fuel filter could become a potential hazard sitting on top of the exhaust manifold, if there's a gas leak it could possible ignite the engine on fire and be lethal to you and your family and the rig, I recommend removing that fuel filter. BTW your engine bay looks very nice!

And I'm almost certain that filter by the carb is on backwards. All those types I've seen have the cap towards the carb. Should be a small arrow on one of the tubes..

Even with the Holley carb? We tried routing over the valve cover but it was binding underneath...

@78fj40mg thanks for the compliment. So you're saying I don't need that filter and @Shark56 recommends flipping it around?

It's much better than the 3 filters the PO had installed.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Dropped my bumper off today for a custom winch install.

Bezel fairlead, and altering the FF bumper the PO installed.

My friend has been critical in the FJ40's revival. I'm interested to see what he comes up with.
