I agree with 78FJ40. I wouldn't use it.
If you have a similar one in the traditional spot. Check the orientation.
Good looking truck. I still have parts from a 12/74.

@78fj40mg thanks for the compliment. So you're saying I don't need that filter and @Shark56 recommends flipping it around?

It's much better than the 3 filters the PO had installed.

The fuel filter needs to be away from the hot side of the engine (exhaust manifold) I also recommend using an OEM metal encased fuel filter, plastic filters are dangerous when located on top of the exhaust.

Here's a pic of mine located adjacent to the battery.

BTW you have a very impressive collection of machine tools in your garage which will probably come in handy while working on your 40.

Solenoid & mounting plate rebuilt. Controller cleaned & refurbished with new cord and trailer plug. Will be mounting solenoid pack under the hood. Hope to have reinstalled and wired up this weekend. Cheers!

Grey! Personally I like some contrast between the tire and wheel. All black looks bulky to me.

It's really your choice, both colors are used by Mudders, however, the OEM color was grey.

You can't go wrong with gray rims ... unless your truck is e-67 or 81-on then it's just wrong lol

Btw 74' from the factory it would have been gray on outside and black on inside ... just sayin

No Flatlander, you didn't use an aluminum Hawse (Fairlead) with a wire cable, those are made for winch "ropes".

@Downey I did. 1) I didn't have the $$ to get synthetic line 2) I will hardy use 3) the additional weight helps with the ride.
