Not sure this is the best place to post/ ask this, but I was wondering if any one has, or has seen a "flat fendered" mini truck. I like the look of a flat fendered Heep, but we all know that once you "get" that thing...it starts to hurt when you pee. I had once seen a very good version on a K5 Blazer, but I lost that picture. :frown:

I'm looking for ideas to make this happen on my own 4Runner. I'm looking to cut just above the flared section of the front fender. What I don't want is an excessive amount of tube in the front or an exo-cage per sey. That's why I like the way Heeps do it, because there is usually a flat bar that bolts to the grille/ core support. Very clean looking.

Your mission, should yo decide to accept it, is to help me find pictures of such fab work......ready? GO!

my boss did this with a friends truck a few years ago using fj40 fenders on a 2nd gen pickup, it was a kinda hacked job to keep him legal but it looked kool. ill see if i can find pictures. its the only one i have seen before. i was wanting to do this aswell.

I'll risk going to take a look over at Pirate. Thanks for the heads up. It get's time consuming trying to sort through eleventybillion gallery's sometimes though.

I looked through the FAQ, but nothing jumped out at me....

Not bad, but still has an "exo-cage" look to the front.

I never said this was going to be easy... :D

I'm for this.. take the whole front clip off the 4runner and fit a fj40 front clip.... or maybe pick up two extra 4runner quarters and customize those.

That would be kinda cool.....

Cool trucks and ideas, but I want to keep the mini truck look, not swap out whole tubs or bodys.

Ok, I'll try to explain it better.

Heeps can get "flat fenders" or tube fenders like these from Poison Spyder:

I want to do something similar with a mini truck (1st Gen 4Runner to be exact) without all the exo-cage crap. I don't like exo's but I have a habit of leaning into trees and rocks here on the tight trails in the Northeast. So I'm trying to gain wheel well clearance and protect the body at the same time.

The idea of using a set-up from a 40 is novel, but I'd have to take a closer look at the details.

check Chris Dunbars truck at trail gear, he has diamond plate fenders, see his build on pirate

I was once thinking of doing something like the fenders on the Jeep M715 trucks.
That mabe what you are looking for.
