Hello you guys,,,,,,,,,,,,I have ordered a headliner in the past from SOR for cruisers I have owned with NON CORROGATED tops. Will that same headliner fit properly in the 1962 fj40? Am asking since I know the roof is a different size. If the standard SOR headliner will not work can anyone tell me what they have done in the past to deal with the headliner. Custom perhaps? Thanks, FJFJFJ.

The corrugated tops I've seen with parts of the original headliner it has very little padding. But what SOR is offering should look fine. As far fitting I have never used one. It would depend on how much you had to trim off in the past. Because being longer in the back since the side go straight up instead of angling in it is also a taller top. Both these are going to require more material. I believe they offer header for other cruisers like mid wheel base and long wheel base but not sure this will help side to side. Might be worth a call to Marv and ask him that question. Not sure how much counter time anyone else who works for him but back in 74 when I bought my first he was already in the business of LC parts.

I remember noting how thin the original liner was when I had to pull off the remnants of my liner, but like LITP noted, I'm sure the SOR unit will look fine, but I have no idea if it will fit.

JohnnyC did put up a link once to a place that sells bulk headliner stuff, and I was thinking of buying a big over sized piece of that myself, but never got around to it. In fact, I don't think I saved that link anywhere. My next option was to go to a local shop to see what they had that would fit, and look right.

I used a headliner from Cruiser Corps in my '62, they cut their liners larger than the standard top so you have excess to play with which is good when dealing with the larger early top. Worked great for me.

Aha...good to know! Do you have a pic handy?

Nope unfortunately not, I put it in one of my '62s right before I sold it. But I can tell you the material was thicker than the stock headliner as it had a layer of foam padding on the back side.

Perfect. Thanks you guys. I will contact Cruiser Corp. and buy from them. I will double check also. I did speak with SOR ( not Marv directly though ) and they said their headliner would not fit the 1962 fj40. Good to note that Cruiser Corp. cut them larger. Appreciate your assist as always you guys. FJFJFJ
