My speedometer cable came apart where it screws into the transfer case. The inner cable itself didn’t snap, but seems where the outer hose gets secured to the screw on part failed. Anyone know how this usually stays in place?

Think just a clamp around the rubber hose to secure it to the metal screw on thing would work?

OEM is still available new.

The Toyota cable is on Nation-wide backorder, but many vendors have a Japan-made aftermarket (OEM) for like $30-40.

Hose clamp might work to repair, that's normally a crimped end.

Remove the part that's screwed on to the T'case tailhousing and see if the plastic gears inside are ok.

i wonder if you could just squeeze it in a vice to square the crimp again. i bought one for @cruiseroutfit a few years ago. maybe check with them for a new one if “renewing” the crimp doesn’t work.

looks like the cable is in tack. just gotta get the housing to stay. after crimping maybe put a heat shrink on it to help hold it.

They got discontinued from Toyota semi-recently. There's still some NOS out there (I have a few). I also have a few OEM 70 series options that we have tested in the shop as replacements that work well.

I have no idea where he got it, but the guy I bought my 62 from earlier this year was able to buy a brand new replacement pretty easily. It broke while he was driving it to meet me. So I guess I got lucky, it broke at the last possible second to not be my problem XD

Er, anyway can't be that hard to find, given he had already found and ordered one while enroute, just a few months ago.
