Has anyone heard good things or currently have an aftermarket chrome front bumper for their FJ62 from Specter Off-Road?

I have to get mine replaced due to parents neighbors backing into the left side and bending the front bumper and due to the factory ones being so expensive, I wasnt going to ask for that amount of money since it wasnt really bent too bad.

I will be ordering one on Monday and was curious to if they chipped easier or anything else. I know they arent as thick as the factory ones but thought I'd check.

Thanks

You could make a pretty stout one out of some 2x4 box tube for nearly nothing.

UNless you are going for the totally stock look, I wouldn't waste my $$ buying one from anywhere.

Either make one (pretty simple and inexpensive) or get the ARB.

The ARB was the 1st thing I did when I started modding. Love it!
(the wall ain't very happy with it, but feck it! It shouldn't have been there!)

Or you could just spend the next few weeks and a few hundred hours and build what this guy built only for the front of yours.

looks cool though.

Hey by the way i work in raleigh might have seen you cruiser before. short desc. or pic?

I bought mine from CCOT, it was the cheapest option at the time and I am satisfied. My 2 cents.

No experience with aftermarket cruiser bumpers, but FWIW, I once bought an aftermarket chrome, OE replacement front bumper for a '75 Chevy pickup, and it was a POS. It was thin and not very sturdy, and with every piece of gravel or whatnot that would hit it off the road, came a chip in the chrome, which would promptly rust with the first introduction of moisture. If you want to stay with the stock bumper, I second the "buy used off of Mud" option, or take the money it would cost to replace and put towards an "upgrade".

Thanks for the input. Im going for the stock look which I like and use the truck as a daily driver and just continue fixing things here and there to restore it as doesnt need much as I found it in great condition.

The CCOT aftermarket bumper will be here tomorrow so we will see how it looks. In the description it stated that it was "class A" chrome and when I spoke with the salesman to order it he said it was pretty much exactly like the stock just not as thick. I think it will be fine.

Thanks again!

Hey email me a pic of your bumper. I'm going to chop mine up and make it different, and its a shame to do it to a perfect bumper. If your's isn't bad i'll sell you mine cheap. surfridedrive@yahoo

I installed a CCOT bumper on my 62 about three years ago to replace the POS Smittybuilt that was on there when I bought it. The CCOT bumper has held up pretty well. I don't think it is of the same quality as OEM, but it doesn't cost anywhere near OEM either. All in all, I'm happy with it, and I suspect you will be, too.

Yea, I think it will hold up fine. There can't be that much of a difference, only that it isn't as thick and the chrome isn't as of high quality. My 62 is stock and is a daily driver and never off-road so there wont be much that can hurt it except for road debris.

do you want a very nice used one? Cause I have one I'll partially trade you.

aftermarket non-oem bumpers are cheap and thin. I have the "grayed" out bumper. All they did was paint over a aftermarket chrome one.. the gray flakes off.
