I have been building a bumper for my 89 fj62. Let me know what you think.

ARB wants their bumper back.

It looks good. What thickness material on the main section? And are those weld on D-Rings fully rated for recovery?

Haha Well the arb is my favorite but I'm poor. It's all 3/16 plate and 120 Wall tube. The d rings are 15000lbs. Used them on jeeps in past and on my 80. Have never had an issue. Going to do something on face of ring for strength just haven't decided what.

Nice enough to sit my beer on ;)

Nice. I've been thinking of something very similar, but without the bull bar.

I don't know about his rings, but the welds are!

Do you ship to NC?

can we have a profile and a straight-on mug shot at headlight level? Nice looking bumper, BTW...62 is a difficult grille to compromise with...

I'll have to get you a pic when I get home from work. It is for sure a difficult from t end to work with. If bumper doesn't come up to at least bottom of turns I don't like it.

Thanks for the compliments. I can agree with everyone on d rings not being best looking. They are 10 bucks each and do the job. To do clevis style would have cost a lot more. I bet I only have 150 in this bumper when it's done. Not including paint.

with 70k tensile rating, as long as you ran enough heat to see a nice purple brown on the inside face of the center section, you should be OK...if you have doubts in a hard pull, you could always back up the tie-in with a safety strap to your tubes to keep failure recoil controlled...

I love the D-rings. One suggestion that I found works well, put a couple of zip-ties around the D-ring, with the stub facing the bumper, it will keep the rings from dinging into the bumper with that metal on metal clink and wearing away the finish.

I see you have a young boy as well, I've got 2, you can expect the D-rings to be flipped into the upright position everytime you jump in the truck and slap down when you start to move..

Looks good. I'd like to have that on my rig. Is it mounted directly to the frame or to the factory bumper mounts?
