A few months ago, my FJ62 started developing leaks from the transfer case so I took it into the local LC specialist shop to have it rebuilt. I also had them replace the filter located inside the transmission pan as long as they were at it.
Ever since this work was done, my rig has been getting "stuck" in the wrong gear. When I go from highway speeds down to 15 - 35 MPH, the RPMs hover around 3 - 4k and it feels like very little power is being applied to the wheels. Normally, I would expect the trans to automatically downshift into a more appropriate gear, but instead my rig just keeps roaring along until I bring it to a complete stop at which time the gearing usually "resets".
My long term plan was to do the H55F swap when the auto transmission died. I'm at 202k miles now so a trans failure is definitely not out of the question.
Does this sound like the transfer case was rebuilt improperly or are the wearable parts in my auto transmission starting to fail?
